Tonk Police Uncover Major Online Betting Operation During T20 World Cup
In a significant crackdown on illegal gambling activities, the District Special Team (DST) of Tonk police, in collaboration with Niwai station police, successfully busted a large-scale online betting ring that was operating during the high-profile India vs South Africa T20 World Cup match on Sunday night. The operation, which took place in Bhagat Singh Colony, revealed a sophisticated network involving crores of rupees in illicit transactions.
Massive Seizure of Assets and Arrest Made
According to Tonk Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar Meena, the police conducted a raid that led to the seizure of substantial assets linked to the betting operation. The confiscated items include bank accounts containing a staggering Rs 1 crore 44 lakh, nine mobile phones, one walkie-talkie, one laptop, Rs 1.5 lakh in cash, and one LED TV. Additionally, one individual was arrested on the spot in connection with the racket.
SP Rajesh Kumar Meena stated, "We have registered a case against two accused at the Niwai police station and initiated a thorough investigation into this matter. Our teams acted swiftly to dismantle this illegal operation that was exploiting the excitement of the T20 World Cup."
Details of the Arrest and Investigation
The arrested person has been identified as Lokesh, a 32-year-old resident of Patel Road in the Niwai police station area. He was apprehended directly from the scene of the crime and is currently undergoing interrogation by the authorities. Police are delving deep into his involvement and connections to uncover the full extent of the betting network.
