Trichy Police File Three Separate Cases Against NTK Functionaries for Event Violations

In a significant enforcement action, Trichy district police have registered three distinct cases against functionaries of the Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) political party. The legal proceedings stem from multiple violations that occurred during the party's 'Maatrathai Virumbum Makkalin Manadu' (Conference for People Seeking Change) held on Saturday at Alampattiputhur village in Trichy district.

Violations Involving Banned Imagery and Public Disfigurement

According to police reports, the first case centers on the unauthorized display of digital banners featuring images of leaders from banned organizations, specifically the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). Acting on directions from Trichy Superintendent of Police S Selvanagarathinam, the Inamkulathur station police identified six NTK functionaries involved in organizing the conference as the accused.

The functionaries now face charges under sections 3 and 4 of the Tamil Nadu Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act for displaying objectionable advertisements. Additionally, they have been charged under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 285 for causing obstructions in public pathways and section 292 for creating public nuisance through the unauthorized placement of these promotional materials.

Exceeding Permitted Event Duration Leads to Second Case

The second case registered by Trichy police involves the NTK conference exceeding its officially permitted time frame. Police records indicate that the event began around 4:00 PM and concluded at approximately 9:35 PM, with NTK leader Seeman addressing the crowd from 7:00 PM until the event's conclusion.

However, authorities had granted permission only for the period between 3:00 PM and 9:00 PM. This violation resulted in additional charges under BNS sections 189 for unlawful assembly, section 223 for disobedience to a public order, and section 292 for public nuisance.

Traffic Disruptions Trigger Third Legal Action

A third separate case emerged from significant traffic disruptions caused by vehicles transporting NTK cadres to and from the conference venue. The functionaries organizing the event have been charged under multiple legal provisions for these transportation-related violations.

The charges include BNS sections 189 for unlawful assembly, section 281 for rash or negligent driving, and section 292 for public nuisance. Police have also invoked relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act to address the traffic management failures.

Police Response and Investigation Status

All three cases were formally registered on Monday following the Saturday conference. The Trichy district police have emphasized their commitment to enforcing public order regulations and ensuring compliance with event permissions. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to document the full extent of violations and identify all responsible parties.

This enforcement action represents a significant development in maintaining public order during political events in the region, with police demonstrating strict adherence to legal protocols regarding event organization, public safety, and community disturbance prevention.
