A devastating road accident occurred near the Chatram bus stand in Trichy on Friday, resulting in the death of a 63-year-old woman. The victim, identified as R Rajalakshmi from Thuraiyur in Trichy district, was fatally struck by a government bus while attempting to cross the road.

According to police sources, Rajalakshmi had arrived at the Chathiram bus stand on Friday afternoon. She was on her way to visit her daughter's house located on Vanapattarai Street. As she tried to cross the road near a private college, a government bus coming from the Srirangam direction collided with her.

The impact was severe, causing critical injuries to Rajalakshmi's head. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries on the spot, leaving no chance for medical intervention.

Immediate Aftermath and Police Response

Following the accident, police personnel quickly arrived at the scene and retrieved the woman's body. The remains were transported to Trichy Government Hospital for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
