The accident occurred around 1 pm at the Spinning Mill Road junction near Ooroth Palliyal, sending shockwaves through the local community.

Details of the Fatal Mishap

The truck, which was carrying supplies from a private wholesale establishment in Kodoor to various retail shops, met with the accident after the driver reportedly lost control. The vehicle veered off the road and fell into a deep quarry that was filled with water, creating a perilous situation for both occupants.

The driver, identified as Jafar, a native of Chattiparamba, managed to jump into the water as the truck went over the edge. He was subsequently rescued by alert locals who witnessed the terrifying scene. Jafar was promptly admitted to a private hospital in Valanchery for treatment of his injuries.

Prolonged Rescue Operation

The rescue mission stretched for hours as teams struggled against the difficult conditions. Initial attempts to pull the truck from the water proved unsuccessful, prompting authorities to call for additional heavy equipment.

Around 8 pm, after nearly seven hours of continuous effort, a heavy crane from a national highway construction company was brought to the site. Using this machinery, rescue teams finally managed to lift the truck out of the quarry. During this critical phase of the operation, one fire force personnel sustained injuries and was admitted to a private hospital in Valanchery for medical attention.

Recovery of the Victim

Once the vehicle was retrieved, rescue workers had to cut open the truck's cabin to reach Musthafa, who had been submerged for approximately seven hours. His body was recovered from the wreckage and immediately shifted to the mortuary at Manjeri Medical College Hospital. Authorities confirmed that the body would be handed over to his family after completing necessary postmortem procedures.
