Police in Jharkhand's Chatra district have successfully cracked a jewellery store robbery case with the arrest of two individuals from neighbouring Bihar. The arrests were made by a special investigation team in connection with a heist that took place in Hunterganj late last year.
SIT Cracks the Case with Gaya Arrests
A special investigation team (SIT), operating under the leadership of subdivisional police officer Sandeep Suman, carried out the operation leading to the arrests. The team apprehended the two accused from separate locations within Bihar's Gaya district.
The individuals have been identified as Santosh Chaudhary, also known as Dhakni, and Sikandar Rajak. Chaudhary was nabbed from Bhajeda village, while Rajak was arrested from the Cherki area, which falls under the jurisdiction of Sherghati police station.
Details of the December Robbery
The crime traces back to December 21 of the previous year. According to the police, unidentified criminals targeted a gold trader near a petrol pump located in the Gosaindih area of Hunterganj.
The owner of the store, Santosh Kumar, who is a resident of Gaya district himself, filed a formal written complaint regarding the incident. Based on his complaint, a First Information Report (FIR) was officially registered at the Hunterganj police station, setting the legal process in motion.
Recovery and Criminal History of the Accused
Following their arrest, a significant recovery was made from the possession of the two men. The police seized nineteen gold ornaments with a total weight of 5.1 grams.
Investigations have revealed that both Santosh Chaudhary and Sikandar Rajak are seasoned criminals with extensive police records. Each of them has a staggering 18 criminal cases registered against their names. Their history of crime includes previous convictions, and both have served jail terms in the past.
The arrests mark a significant breakthrough for the Chatra police, demonstrating the effectiveness of the dedicated SIT in tracking down and apprehending the suspects involved in the daring daylight robbery.
