Two Men Arrested for Murder in Daltonganj's Chainpur Area
In a significant development, police in Daltonganj have arrested two individuals in connection with the murder of a man whose body was discovered near the Koyel river. The incident, which occurred in the Chainpur police station limits, has led to swift action by law enforcement authorities.
Discovery of the Victim and Initial Investigation
The victim, identified as Yogesh Singh, a resident of Karcha village under the Nawa Bazar police station limits, was found dead in a bush by the side of the Koyel river on February 28. Singh, who was in his mid-twenties, sustained severe injuries to his head, indicating a violent assault.
Following the discovery, Singh's wife registered a First Information Report (FIR) on March 1, naming six individuals as accused in the case. Among those named was Shiv Pujan Singh, who later became a key suspect in the investigation.
Police Action and Arrests
Superintendent of Police Reeshma Rameshan took immediate charge of the situation, constituting a specialized investigation team under the leadership of Subdivisional Police Officer (Sadar) Rajeev Ranjan. The team worked diligently to gather evidence and piece together the events leading to the murder.
During the investigation, crucial evidence was recovered, including the iron punch allegedly used to deliver the fatal blows to Yogesh Singh, as well as his shoes. This evidence played a pivotal role in identifying the perpetrators.
On Thursday, police arrested two men in connection with the murder: Shiv Pujan Singh (28) and Jay Prakash Singh (23). Both suspects were subsequently remanded to judicial custody, marking a significant breakthrough in the case.

According to the Superintendent of Police, preliminary investigations suggest that Yogesh Singh was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. A heated argument or tiff ensued between Singh and the two accused, which escalated into violence resulting in his death.
