Two Men Arrested in Sant Kabir Nagar for Alleged Gang Rape of Minor
In a deeply disturbing incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, a 15-year-old girl was reportedly gang raped in the Sant Kabir Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh. The alleged assault occurred on Thursday while the minor was engaged in agricultural work in a field, according to official police statements.
Police Action and Arrests Following Formal Complaint
The victim's mother filed a formal complaint with the authorities on Friday, detailing the horrific events. In her statement, she alleged that two men approached her daughter while she was working alone in the field and proceeded to sexually assault her. Circle Officer Abhaynath Mishra confirmed that based on this complaint, the police identified and located the accused individuals.
"Both accused were identified as Aman Kumar, aged 19, and Himesh Kumar alias Larahe, also 19, both residents of Bandhupur village under the jurisdiction of Mahuli police station," Mishra told news agency PTI. "They were subsequently arrested on Saturday and have been remanded to judicial custody. Our investigation into this serious matter continues actively."
The police have registered a formal case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, which mandates severe punishment for crimes against minors.
Separate Case: YouTuber Booked on Rape Charges in Meerut District
In an unrelated but equally serious development from Uttar Pradesh, law enforcement authorities in Meerut district have lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against YouTube content creator Shadab Jakati on charges of rape. The case was initiated following a formal written complaint submitted by a female resident of the Inchhauli locality on Mawana Road.
Legal Proceedings and Conflicting Narratives
Superintendent of Police (Rural) Abhijeet Kumar stated that the FIR was officially recorded on Friday under specific provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including section 64 which deals with punishment for rape. "Subsequent legal measures will be implemented based on the testimony and evidence gathered throughout the comprehensive inquiry," the senior police official noted.
The complainant has accused Jakati of sexual assault and had previously made similar allegations during interactions with media representatives. However, the YouTuber has vehemently denied all charges, describing them as completely baseless and without merit.
In a detailed video statement lasting approximately two-and-a-half minutes, Jakati presented his version of events. He claimed that the woman had initially contacted him requesting assistance, and that he had provided humanitarian aid including funding for her child's education, food supplies, and other essential needs on philanthropic grounds.
"The individual has participated in several of my video projects," Jakati asserted, "and there are witnesses who can verify my account of our interactions." He further mentioned that surveillance cameras are operational at his residence and insisted that investigators could review the footage if required. The digital creator has called for a fair and impartial investigation while alleging that a conspiracy is being orchestrated to wrongfully implicate him in criminal proceedings.
Both cases highlight ongoing concerns about women's safety and the implementation of legal protections in Uttar Pradesh, with authorities emphasizing their commitment to thorough investigations and appropriate legal action in accordance with the newly implemented Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita provisions.
