A tragic road accident in Banda district claimed two lives and left one person seriously injured on Thursday night. The incident occurred after a head-on collision between two motorcycles, with the fallen riders subsequently being run over by a truck.
Details of the Fatal Collision
The accident took place on the main road near Dohatara village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Chilla police station. According to preliminary information, Sarwar (25), a resident of Lalauli village in Fatehpur, was riding towards his village from Banda with his companion, Ishrat Khan (30).
From the opposite direction, Pramod Kumar, a resident of Dighwat village in the Chilla police station area, was heading towards Chilla. The two bikes collided head-on, causing all three individuals to fall onto the road.
Truck Runs Over Fallen Victims
In a devastating turn of events, a truck coming from behind could not avoid the fallen riders on the road. The vehicle ran over them, leading to immediate fatalities.
Sarwar and Ishrat Khan died on the spot due to the severe injuries sustained. Pramod Kumar survived but suffered serious injuries. He was rushed to the district hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Police confirmed a critical safety lapse: none of the motorcycle riders involved was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Police Investigation and Aftermath
Inspector Anoop Dubey provided details of the police response. The bodies of the two deceased were sent to the medical college for post-mortem examination. The injured Kumar remained under treatment at the district hospital.
The police have seized the truck involved in the incident. However, the driver fled the scene. A search operation is currently underway to locate and apprehend the truck driver.
The families of Sarwar and Ishrat Khan have been informed about the tragic incident. The local authorities are investigating the exact sequence of events and the speeds of the vehicles involved to determine further liability.
