Tragic Road Accidents in Chennai Suburbs Result in Two Deaths
Two separate and devastating road accidents occurred in the suburbs of Chennai on Wednesday evening, claiming the lives of a woman and a young man. The incidents, which took place in Chengalpet and Kundrathur, have highlighted ongoing concerns about road safety in the region.
Fatal Collision Involving Container Lorry in Chengalpet
In the first tragic event, a 34-year-old woman named Radha lost her life in a horrific accident near Padappai. Radha, the wife of Ramesh, aged 36, from Kavanur, was on her way to pick up her children from school when she stopped her scooter at a traffic signal.
At that moment, a container lorry traveling from Chengalpet towards Tambaram reportedly lost control. The massive vehicle collided with a stationary goods vehicle that was positioned behind Radha's scooter. The impact of the crash caused the goods vehicle to slam into Radha's scooter, throwing her off the vehicle.
Radha sustained severe head injuries in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the goods vehicle also suffered serious injuries and was provided medical attention. Police authorities have seized the container lorry involved in the accident and are actively searching for its driver, who fled the scene and is currently absconding.
Head-On Motorcycle Crash Claims Young Life in Kundrathur
In a separate and equally tragic incident, a 22-year-old man named Ajay from Erumaiyur Palanthandalam died following a head-on collision between two motorcycles. According to police reports, Ajay was riding his motorcycle towards Tambaram when he collided with another bike traveling in the opposite direction from Tambaram to Somangalam.
The violent impact resulted in serious injuries to all three individuals involved in the crash. Ajay was rushed to Chromepet Government Hospital along with the two riders from the other motorcycle—23-year-old Vishnu and 23-year-old Sanjay.
Despite medical efforts, Ajay succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Vishnu and Sanjay continue to receive treatment for their injuries, with their conditions being monitored by medical staff.
