In a shocking incident of wedding violence, two young men sustained severe bullet injuries during a clash at a ceremony in the Hasanganj police station area of Unnao district. The violent altercation erupted late on Saturday night, around 11 PM, and has led to a police case being filed against three individuals, including a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Details of the Violent Altercation

The incident occurred during the wedding procession of Pradeep, son of Ramswaroop from Bakshikheda, which had arrived at Amritlal's residence in Ajmakheda village, located in the Adampur Bhashi region. According to police reports, the clash began during the agwani ceremony, a traditional ritual, when an argument broke out among the baraatis (wedding guests).

The disagreement quickly escalated into a physical confrontation. Witnesses stated that some individuals uprooted bamboo sticks from a nearby field and began attacking each other. Amidst the chaos, a youth reportedly opened fire, targeting two specific individuals.

Victims and Their Critical Condition

The gunfire resulted in serious injuries to:

  • Akash (25), son of Ramchandra Lodhi
  • Shiva (24), son of Virendra Lodhi

Both victims are residents of Navai, which falls under the Ajgain police station area. They were immediately rushed to a local community health center. Due to the severity of their injuries, they were subsequently referred to a trauma center in Lucknow, where they were admitted in critical condition.

Police Investigation and Accusations

Upon receiving information about the shooting, police personnel swiftly arrived at the scene. A formal complaint was lodged by Vikas, the brother of injured victim Akash. In his statement to the authorities, Vikas alleged that the firing was carried out by:

  1. Dharmendra Rajput, son of Ramgopal
  2. Karan alias Jalaski
  3. Kapil, son of Raghunath

All three named individuals are residents of Bakshikheda. The complaint further stated that they, along with some unidentified accomplices, opened fire using a pistol during a dance performance at the wedding and then fled the location.

Circle Officer Arvind Chaurasia confirmed that based on this complaint, a case has been officially registered against the three named persons and several unknown individuals. Authorities have launched a search operation to apprehend the accused, who are currently at large.

Political and Social Implications

The inclusion of a BJP member among the accused has added a political dimension to this violent episode, drawing attention to the incident beyond local law enforcement concerns. This development underscores the need for stringent action against such acts of violence, especially during celebratory events like weddings, which are meant to be joyous occasions.

The police are continuing their investigation to uncover the full sequence of events and ensure that all those responsible are brought to justice. The community remains in shock as the injured youths fight for their lives in Lucknow's trauma center.
