Uttar Pradesh Achieves Top National Ranking in Law and Order Under Yogi Adityanath
Advisor to the Chief Minister and former Additional Chief Secretary for Home, Awanish Awasthi, declared on Friday that robust law and order, serving as the fundamental pillar of development, has propelled Uttar Pradesh to the foremost position in India under the stewardship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Record Conviction Rates and Swift Grievance Resolution
Addressing the Uttar Pradesh Transformation Dialogues, Awasthi emphasized, "Uttar Pradesh boasts the highest conviction rate nationwide. Continuous oversight and proactive involvement from senior officials facilitate the prompt resolution of public complaints."
He detailed significant improvements in emergency response mechanisms, noting that response times have been slashed from 14 minutes to a mere 6 minutes. Police response vehicles under the Dial 112 initiative are now rapidly arriving at scenes to aid individuals in crisis.
Awasthi asserted that effective systems are forged through precise vision and strategic action plans.
Zero Tolerance Policy Against Criminals
Stressing the imperative to prosecute offenders to convey a powerful deterrent message, Awasthi stated, "Firearms issued to police officers are not ornamental. Weapons will be deployed if necessary. Criminals must be unequivocally shown their place."
He added that the police leadership not only takes immediate action but also operates behind the scenes to ensure perpetrators face incarceration for their crimes.
Substantial Budget Increases and Institutional Reforms
The Yogi government has executed sweeping institutional reforms, amplifying the annual police department budget from Rs 1,000 crore to Rs 5,000 crore. This augmented funding is channeled towards:
- Superior residential quarters for police personnel
- Enhanced resources and infrastructure
- Overall modernization of the force
Expansion and Gender Inclusivity in Police Force
Through transparent recruitment campaigns, the state has integrated lakhs of new members into the police, elevating the force's strength from 2.5 lakh to 5.5 lakh officers.
Awasthi highlighted advancements in gender diversity, with women's representation in the police force surging from 10% to 20%. This initiative aims to bolster female participation and inclusivity within law enforcement.
Daily Monitoring by Chief Minister
Awasthi revealed that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducts daily reviews of the law and order situation during late evening hours, ensuring constant vigilance and accountability.
These comprehensive measures underscore Uttar Pradesh's commitment to establishing a secure and orderly environment, catalyzing growth and positioning the state as a national leader in governance and public safety.
