UP Police Recruitment Board Issues Stern Warning Over Fake Social Media Notices

The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) has issued a critical public warning to all candidates regarding the circulation of fraudulent and misleading examination-related notices on various social media platforms. The board has made it unequivocally clear that all official information, public notices, instructions, and examination updates are disseminated exclusively through its authorized and verified channels.

Official Channels Are the Only Source of Authentic Information

In an official statement released to the public, the recruitment board explicitly stated that the sole sources for all legitimate recruitment information are its official website, uppbpb.gov.in, and its verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, @upprpb. Candidates have been strongly cautioned against relying on any information received from unauthorized or unverified sources, which are often designed to mislead and create confusion among applicants.

The board has also issued a serious warning to applicants against sharing or promoting such fake information. It emphasized that legal action will be initiated against any individual found to be involved in the creation, circulation, or promotion of false or misleading content related to police recruitment processes. This stance underscores the board's commitment to maintaining the integrity and transparency of its recruitment procedures.

FIR Registered Following Circulation of Forged Examination Letter

This official clarification was prompted by the discovery of a forged letter being widely circulated on social media. The fraudulent document was issued in the name of the recruitment board and falsely mentioned an incorrect date for the written examination concerning the recruitment of Sub-Inspector (Civil Police) and equivalent posts. This deceptive act has caused significant concern and potential disruption among candidates.

Taking serious note of this forgery, the authorities have registered a First Information Report (FIR) at the Hussainganj police station under crime number 11/26. The case has been filed against unknown persons responsible for this malicious activity.

Legal Charges Under BNS and IT Act

According to police officials involved in the investigation, the case has been registered for multiple serious offences. These include impersonation of a government authority, creation of public nuisance among candidates, obstruction of government work, and the misuse of electronic media to spread false information.

The FIR has been lodged under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, alongside Section 66 of the Information Technology Act. This legal action highlights the severe consequences of engaging in such fraudulent activities, which not only mislead candidates but also undermine the official recruitment process.

Official Examination Schedule Reiterated

The recruitment board took this opportunity to reiterate the officially announced schedule for the written examination. The recruitment for Sub-Inspector (Civil Police) and equivalent posts was officially announced on December 3. The written examination is scheduled to be held on March 14-15, 2025, and will be conducted across four shifts as previously communicated through official channels.

Advisory for All Applicants

In light of these events, the UPPRPB has issued a clear advisory to all applicants:

  • Regularly check only the official website (uppbpb.gov.in) and the verified X handle (@upprpb) for all authentic updates and notices.
  • Exercise extreme caution and verify the source of any recruitment-related information received through social media or other unofficial platforms.
  • Immediately report any suspicious, fake, or misleading recruitment-related information to the concerned authorities to help prevent the spread of such fraudulent content.

The board's proactive measures aim to safeguard candidates from falling prey to scams and ensure a fair, transparent, and orderly recruitment process for all aspiring police personnel in Uttar Pradesh.
