Uproar at Usgao Communidade AGM Over Land Lease Allegations
An uproar erupted at the annual general body meeting of the Usgao comunidade held last week, following serious allegations that land was being permitted for cow slaughter. The situation escalated dramatically, forcing the committee to summon police to evict unauthorised persons who had entered the hall, creating significant chaos and disrupting the proceedings.
Details of the Land Lease Resolution
The AGM was conducted at the Adinath temple hall, where a key agenda item was considering the lease of a 33,000 square meter plot of land to Ajit Mittal. After deliberations, the resolution was passed with 74 members voting in favour and 30 opposing it, indicating a clear majority support for the lease agreement.
Allegations and Police Intervention
However, a group of unauthorised persons barged into the hall, alleging that the leaseholder intended to use the land for establishing a slaughterhouse. This led to widespread chaos and forced the communidade committee to call the police to restore order and evict the intruders. Communidade attorney Sudesh M Parab clarified that the land was leased to Mittal strictly on the condition that it would be used solely for setting up a dairy farm, refuting the slaughterhouse claims.
Background on the Land Transaction
A comunidade member provided additional context, stating that a separate 45,000 square meter aframento plot owned by Subhash Usgaonkar of Sanvordem was earlier sold to Pradip Verenkar. Verenkar subsequently sold this plot to Mittal, who is known as a casino owner, approximately three-and-a-half years ago, adding complexity to the land's history.
Key Officials Present at the Meeting
Usgao communidade president Girish N S Usgaonkar, attorney Sudesh M Parab, and treasurer Jayesh S Prabhu were all present at the annual meeting, overseeing the proceedings and addressing the contentious issues that arose during the AGM.
