In a significant crackdown on alleged immoral activities, Varanasi police apprehended three women from Kolkata along with a man during a raid at a guest house located in the Bhelupur police station area on Saturday afternoon. The operation also led to the arrest of the guest house operator, marking a coordinated effort to curb unlawful practices in the city.
Tip-Off Triggers Police Action
According to ACP (Headquarters) Apurva Pandey, the police action was initiated after an alert was received on the CP Samvad helpline number 96707055. The tip-off informed authorities that immoral activities were allegedly being conducted in a room at the guest house in the Bhelupur area. Taking the information seriously, a team from the Special Operation Group (SOG)-2 swiftly organized and executed a raid at the premises.
Raid Uncovers Evidence and Detentions
During the raid, police officers caught three women and a man on the spot. Several articles were recovered from the location, which, as per police statements, provided concrete evidence that immoral trade was being carried out there. The seized items have been taken into custody for further analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.
Interrogation Reveals Kolkata Connection
Upon questioning, the detained women disclosed to the police that they had been sent to Varanasi from Kolkata. When inquired about the arrangements for their stay and activities, they mentioned that a woman referred to as 'Didi' had facilitated their travel and operations. However, they did not reveal the identity of this individual, leaving authorities to probe deeper into the network behind the alleged racket.
Investigation Focuses on Duration and Network
ACP Apurva Pandey emphasized that further investigation is currently underway to determine how long the illegal activity had been taking place at the guest house and whether more individuals are involved in the operation. The police are examining all angles to dismantle any broader network that might be supporting such activities in the region.
This incident highlights the vigilance of Varanasi police in responding to citizen alerts and their commitment to maintaining law and order in the city. The arrests serve as a warning against those engaging in unlawful practices, with authorities urging the public to continue reporting suspicious activities through official channels.
