Varanasi Triple Murder: Two Accused Arrested After Police Encounter
Varanasi: Two triple murder accused arrested after encounter

In a significant breakthrough, the Gahmar police in Varanasi district apprehended two wanted accused in a gruesome triple murder case following an encounter late on Thursday night. The accused, identified as Aman Singh (19) and Arvind Singh (22), sustained bullet injuries in their legs during the exchange of fire.

Police Encounter Leads to Arrest

According to Ghazipur's Circle Officer (Jamania) Anil Kumar, the incident unfolded when a police team led by Gahmar police station in-charge inspector Pramod Kumar Singh was on a routine night patrol. An informer tipped them off that several accused involved in the triple murder were hiding in an orchard located in the Bhatpurwa area.

Upon reaching the spot and noticing the police presence, the criminals allegedly opened fire. The police team retaliated in self-defence, leading to two of the accused suffering gunshot wounds to their legs. They were subsequently overpowered and taken into custody. The police recovered two country-made pistols and several live cartridges from their possession.

Details of the Gruesome Triple Murder

The arrests are linked to a horrific crime that took place on the night of December 24. Three youths—Vicky Singh, Saurabh Singh, and Ankit Singh—were brutally murdered during a violent clash between two groups in the Gahmar area. In a chilling attempt to conceal the crime, the assailants dumped all three bodies into a nearby pond.

While two of the bodies were recovered on December 25, the third victim's body was only found on December 30, after authorities drained the pond water. The case was registered based on a complaint filed by Vicky Singh's brother, with an FIR naming 12 individuals and several unidentified persons.

Investigation Progress and Aftermath

Following the encounter, the injured accused, Aman and Arvind, were immediately rushed to a local hospital for treatment. Reports indicate that Aman sustained bullet injuries in both his legs, while Arvind was hit in one leg. Both are residents of the Gahmar Patti area.

With these latest arrests, the total number of accused taken into custody in connection with the triple murder has now reached five. The police investigation into the motive behind the clash and the identities of the remaining accused is actively ongoing.

This incident highlights the continued efforts by the Varanasi police to crack down on serious crime in the region, demonstrating a swift response to actionable intelligence leading to the apprehension of wanted individuals.
