Two Minors Injured in Wedding Firing Incident in Hathras Village
Two minor boys sustained injuries in a shocking firing incident that occurred during a wedding ceremony in Korna village, located under the jurisdiction of the Mursan police station in Hathras district. The police officially confirmed the details of the distressing event on Friday, revealing that the shooting took place late on Wednesday night.
Details of the Wedding Ceremony Shooting
The incident unfolded around 11 pm on Wednesday during the traditional "door ceremony" following the marriage of Gunjan, the daughter of Mahendra Singh. According to police reports, a sudden gunshot was fired amidst a large gathering of relatives and children from both the bride's and groom's families, creating panic and chaos at the celebration.
The two victims have been identified as Karan, an 11-year-old boy from Girsoti village in Hathras, who is the son of Harprasad, and Nitin, a 12-year-old boy from Mahavan village in Mathura, who is the son of Omprakash. Both minors were struck by shrapnel in their legs from the discharged firearm.
Medical Treatment and Police Investigation
Immediately following the shooting, the injured boys were rushed to Bagla district hospital for urgent medical attention. Due to the severity of his wounds, Nitin was subsequently referred to a specialized hospital in Agra for advanced care. Police officials stated that Karan's condition is currently stable, while Nitin continues to receive treatment for his more serious injuries.
In response to a formal written complaint filed by the bride's father, Mahendra Singh, the Mursan police have registered a case against an unidentified individual under BNS section 118-1, which pertains to voluntarily causing hurt using dangerous weapons. A comprehensive investigation has been launched to apprehend the perpetrator.
SHO Mursan Virendra Pratap Giri confirmed that authorities are actively examining video footage captured during the wedding ceremony to identify the person responsible for firing the shot. "An investigation is underway, and video footage from the wedding is being examined to identify the person who fired the shot," stated Giri, emphasizing the seriousness with which police are treating the case.
The incident has raised significant concerns about public safety during social gatherings in the region, with local authorities urging community members to exercise caution and report any suspicious activities. The police probe continues as they work to determine the circumstances and motive behind the dangerous discharge of a firearm at a family celebration.
