Widow's Jealous Rage Results in Tragic Double Murder in Nalgonda Village
A horrific crime fueled by jealousy has left a village in Nalgonda district reeling in shock after a widow allegedly set fire to her former boyfriend's wife and their six-month-old infant, resulting in both deaths on Saturday morning.
Brutal Attack in Keerthipally Village
The incident occurred in Keerthipally village under Nampally mandal, where the accused, identified as M Sujatha (42), entered the home of K Nagesh Yadav (29) around 11:30 am. According to police reports, Sujatha carried chilli powder, a knife, and a bottle of petrol with her. Finding Nagesh's wife, K Mamatha (26), alone with their younger son, Advith, Sujatha allegedly poured petrol on both victims and lit a matchstick.
The burning Mamatha managed to run out of the house before collapsing on the ground, where she died on the spot. Villagers rushed to the scene upon hearing her screams and alerted Nagesh, who hurried back from the fields where he was working as a farmer. Their elder son, Sadvith (5), was fortunately not present at home during the attack.
Infant Succumbs to Severe Burn Injuries
The six-month-old infant, Advith, who suffered severe burn injuries, was immediately shifted to Niloufer Hospital in Hyderabad for emergency treatment. Tragically, doctors at the hospital declared the baby brought dead upon arrival, adding to the devastating toll of the attack.
Deputy Superintendent of Police for Nalgonda, MV Srinivas Rao, detailed the sequence of events, confirming that Sujatha had been taken into custody and formally arrested on murder charges following the incident.
Background of Relationship Conflict
Investigations revealed that Nagesh and Mamatha had been married since 2020 and were living peacefully with their two children in the village. Prior to his marriage, Nagesh had been in a relationship with Sujatha. After he distanced himself and married Mamatha, Sujatha allegedly began creating disturbances and continued to pursue Nagesh despite his refusal to maintain the relationship.
Village elders had previously intervened, holding meetings and advising both parties to stay away from each other. However, police stated that Sujatha persisted in her pursuit and even warned Nagesh on Friday that she would make his life miserable. Investigators believe she closely observed his movements and waited for an opportunity to strike, which came minutes after Nagesh left for work on Saturday morning.
Community and Police Response
The brutal crime has sent shockwaves through Keerthipally village and surrounding areas, highlighting issues of relationship conflicts and violence in rural communities. Police are continuing their investigation into the matter, with Sujatha now facing serious legal consequences for her alleged actions.
This tragic incident underscores the devastating consequences of unresolved personal conflicts and the importance of community intervention in preventing such violence. The local authorities have assured thorough investigation and appropriate legal action in this heartbreaking case.
