Wife and Boyfriend Axe Husband to Death in Etawah, Flee with Child
In a shocking incident in Etawah's Bharthana area, a woman and her boyfriend allegedly murdered her husband with an axe, attacking him while he slept and then striking him more than a dozen times as he tried to flee. The brutal crime has sent shockwaves through the local community and prompted a swift police investigation.
Gruesome Discovery by Father
The murder came to light on Monday morning when the deceased man's father, Lakhan Singh, arrived at the house. He was horrified to find his son's mutilated body lying in a pool of blood in the verandah. Police were immediately alerted and rushed to the scene.
Officers recovered a blood-stained axe near some vegetables in the verandah, which is believed to be the murder weapon. The body was sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and gather forensic evidence.
Victim Identified as Ranveer Singh Yadav
The deceased has been identified as Ranveer Singh Yadav, a 45-year-old resident of Padiyapur village. He worked as a truck driver, which often kept him away from home for extended periods. Ranveer had married Pooja, a 38-year-old woman from Vrindavan in Mathura, in 2018.
According to family members, disputes between the couple began about a year after their marriage, when Pooja was pregnant and went to stay at her maternal home. She returned after approximately three years, following much persuasion, but the quarrels resumed almost immediately.
Panchayat Settlement and Separate Living Arrangement
A settlement was eventually reached in a panchayat, with the condition that Ranveer would live separately from the main family. His elder brother, Lalu Yadav, constructed a separate house in a field where the couple began residing. This arrangement, however, did not resolve the underlying tensions.
Lakhan Singh recounted the events leading up to the murder, stating, "Ranveer used to drive a truck and would stay away from home for several days. In his absence, I used to sleep outside the house. On Sunday night, Ranveer suddenly came home. When I went to sleep, daughter-in-law Pooja started a quarrel. When she asked me to go back, I left."
Alleged Affair and Motive for Murder
Elder brother Lalu Yadav revealed that Pooja had been having an affair with a man named Arpit, a 40-year-old resident of the same village, for the past two years. "Pooja was having an affair with Arpit for the past 2 years. Both were caught red-handed several times. Ranveer and Pooja used to fight over this issue regularly. Ranveer used to oppose it," he said.
Police confirmed that Arpit is unmarried and a resident of Padiyapur village. The preliminary investigation indicates that the murder was committed jointly by the wife and her lover due to their illicit relationship.
Fleeing with the Child
After the murder, Pooja and Arpit fled the scene, taking Ranveer's two-year-old younger daughter with them. The couple also has an elder daughter, Lakshmi, aged five, who has been living with her maternal grandparents in Mathura since birth.
Father Lakhan Singh expressed his anguish, saying, "Ranveer has 2 daughters. Elder daughter Lakshmi lived at her maternal grandparents' place in Mathura since birth. The 2-year-old younger daughter lived with her parents. After murdering Ranveer, Pooja and Arpit took her with them."
Police Action and Investigation
Police have registered a case based on the complaint filed by the deceased's father and have launched a thorough investigation. ASP rural Shrishchand stated that the initial findings point to the love affair as the primary motive behind the gruesome crime.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to track down the accused, who remain at large. The community is in a state of shock, and the case highlights the tragic consequences of domestic disputes and extramarital affairs.
