Social Media Post Leads to Molestation Case Registration

The Mumbai Police has registered a molestation case after a woman took to social media to describe how she was allegedly groped while walking on a bridge in Goregaon West. According to police officials, they became aware of the incident through the victim's social media post since she had not directly approached the local police station.

The Terrifying Evening Incident

The disturbing incident occurred around 9:43 pm on November 26 when the woman was walking across a bridge near the Radisson Hotel in Goregaon West. In her detailed social media account, the victim mentioned she was on a phone call and remained consciously alert to her surroundings despite being engaged in conversation.

Despite her vigilance, a man approached her from behind and groped her aggressively and explicitly before quickly running away across the bridge. The woman recalled being momentarily stunned and unable to process what had happened, though she screamed loudly throughout the traumatic experience.

Failed Attempts to Seek Help

What made the situation more distressing was the complete lack of assistance from bystanders. The woman stated in her post that not a single person on the busy road stepped forward to help her during her ordeal. She attempted to pursue the perpetrator herself, running after him, but he disappeared into the traffic, leaving her helpless.

Her immediate instinct following the attack was to contact the police. However, she faced another setback when none of the emergency numbers responded to her calls - neither the general police helpline nor the dedicated women's safety helpline answered her desperate attempts to seek help.

The Goregaon police finally contacted the woman on Friday after learning about the incident through social media and registered an FIR against the unidentified accused. A police officer confirmed, "We are scanning CCTV footage from the area to track down the accused" and assured that investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrator.
