Yamunanagar Police Seize Rs 90 Lakh Heroin, Arrest Two in Major Drug Bust
Yamunanagar ANC seizes 810g heroin, arrests two

In a significant blow to drug trafficking networks, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Yamunanagar district police has achieved a major success by arresting two individuals and confiscating a substantial quantity of heroin. The seized contraband, weighing 810 grams and known as smack, carries an estimated international market value of a staggering Rs 90 lakh (approximately).

Operation Based on Specific Intelligence

Addressing the media, Yamunanagar DSP Rajat Gulia credited the operation to the directives of SP Kamaldeep Goyal, as part of an ongoing and rigorous campaign against drug peddlers in the district. Acting on precise intelligence inputs, ANC in-charge Anil Kumar formed a dedicated team. This special squad, which included SI Karmbir and officials Gurnam, Sultan, ASI Rajinder, and personnel Amit, Vimal, and Pankaj, swiftly moved into action.

The team established a barricade under the flyover on Old Radaur Road. Their vigilance paid off when they intercepted a suspicious youth. Following all mandated legal protocols, duty magistrate and DSP Headquarters Kanwaljeet were summoned to the location. A thorough search conducted in their presence led to the recovery of the 810 grams of heroin from the accused.

Arrests and Inter-District Links Uncovered

The individual caught with the drugs was identified as Rajnesh, son of Tarachand, a resident of Bareli village in Faridpur. Preliminary interrogation revealed crucial information: Rajnesh was allegedly en route to deliver the narcotics to another person. The intended recipient was Sufiyan, son of Kamaluddin, from village Dabkora in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur district.

Recognizing the gravity of the case and the inter-state angle, the police team acted with urgency. They successfully apprehended the second accused, Sufiyan, from near the railway underpass close to the Yamunanagar railway station. This swift follow-up action prevented the distribution of the deadly substance.

Deep Probe and Sustained Anti-Drug Drive

A formal case has been registered against both accused under the relevant sections of the law. The police stated that the accused will be presented before the court, and a request for police remand will be made. This remand is critical for an in-depth investigation to unravel the entire drug trafficking network.

ANC in-charge Anil Kumar emphasized that during the remand period, the police will work to identify the source of this large heroin consignment and map out the chain of suppliers and consumers. Efforts will be intensified to expose other members involved in this illicit racket.

SP Kamaldeep Goyal highlighted that this operation marks the second major success for the district police in recent weeks. He recalled that in November, the Special Cell had recovered 1.103 kilograms of heroin worth around Rs 1 crore. The SP reiterated that the Yamunanagar police's strategy is two-pronged: strict enforcement against smugglers coupled with continuous awareness campaigns to educate the youth about the devastating effects of drug abuse. He asserted that the anti-drug drive will continue with unwavering strictness.
