In a heartbreaking incident, a 20-year-old youth died by suicide by jumping into the Cauvery River near the Odapalli check dam in Namakkal district. The tragic event occurred on Saturday evening, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Victim Identified as Mohammed Sabir
Pallipalayam police have identified the deceased as Mohammed Sabir, a resident of Odapalli village near Pallipalayam. According to authorities, Sabir left his home on his two-wheeler without informing his family members on Saturday evening. When he failed to return home that night, his father, Abdul Rahim, initiated a search for his missing son.
"His family said he was looking very upset on Saturday," revealed a police officer involved in the investigation. The concerned father later lodged a formal missing person complaint with the police early on Sunday morning.
Body Discovered in River
Meanwhile, police received an alert about a man's body found floating in the Cauvery River. Upon examination, they confirmed the identity as Mohammed Sabir. Police personnel promptly retrieved the body from the water and sent it for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
