AAP Levels Serious Allegations Against BJP Over Secret US Trade Agreement
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led central government, accusing it of engaging in a clandestine trade arrangement with the United States under President Donald Trump. According to the party, this covert deal represents a calculated conspiracy aimed at devastating India's agricultural sector and undermining the livelihoods of millions of farmers across the nation.
Details Revealed Through Trump's Social Media, Not Parliament
AAP Punjab chief spokesperson Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal expressed profound dismay, stating that it is both shocking and humiliating that critical details concerning India's future and the welfare of over 80 crore citizens are not being disclosed by the Prime Minister in Parliament. Instead, he noted, these revelations are emerging through President Trump's social media posts.
"Who is Trump to the people of India? He may be Mr. Modi's 'friend', but why is he announcing India's policies on social media while the Prime Minister maintains silence?" Dhaliwal questioned. He further demanded transparency, asking, "What deal was struck behind closed doors, and why is it being hidden from the nation?"
Zero-Tax Imports Threaten Indian Agriculture
Dhaliwal alleged that the secret agreement involves opening India's markets to American agricultural goods with zero import taxes. This move, he warned, would flood the domestic market with cheaper imported products, effectively destroying Indian farmers who cannot compete with such pricing.
"This is not trade. This is surrender. This is BJP's plan to finish the agricultural sector in India so that their capitalist friends can profit," he asserted. The AAP leader recalled that farmer unions and several chief ministers had previously cautioned the Centre to exclude agriculture from any potential US agreements, given the existing deep crisis in Indian farming.
He accused the BJP of attempting to reintroduce what he termed "black farm laws" through the back door, referencing previous controversial agricultural reforms.
Broader Economic and Health Implications
Beyond agriculture, Dhaliwal highlighted significant health and food safety risks associated with "chemical-heavy" American produce. He also warned that the deal could compel India to cease purchasing oil from Russia and shift to more expensive imports from the US, triggering massive inflation.
"When fuel becomes expensive, everything becomes expensive. This deal will hit every household," he stated, emphasizing the widespread economic impact on ordinary citizens.
Criticism of BJP's Punjab Leadership
Dhaliwal also targeted BJP leaders in Punjab, questioning their "criminal silence" on an issue that directly threatens the state's economic backbone—agriculture. He urged them to break their silence and address the concerns of Punjab's farming community, which stands to be disproportionately affected by such a trade agreement.
The AAP's allegations underscore growing tensions over India's trade policies and their potential repercussions on the agricultural sector, a critical component of the nation's economy and social fabric.
