Suraj Hegde, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary and former minister from Karnataka, passed away at the age of 55 on Tuesday. He suffered a cardiac arrest at his residence in Bengaluru, according to party sources.

Hegde was a prominent Congress leader who served as a minister in the Karnataka government. He held key portfolios and was known for his grassroots connect. He was appointed AICC secretary in charge of several states, playing a crucial role in party organization.
Condolences Pour In
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge expressed deep sorrow, calling Hegde a dedicated and hardworking leader. Former party chief Rahul Gandhi also offered condolences, remembering his commitment. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said Hegde's death is a huge loss to the party and the state.
Several political leaders from across parties paid tribute, highlighting his humble nature and service. Hegde is survived by his wife and two children. His last rites will be performed in his native village in Uttara Kannada district.
