General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of the Indian Army, has unveiled the Indian Army Strategic Guidelines 2047, a pivotal document designed to steer the transformation of the Army into a future-ready force. Released on Friday, the guidelines are derived from the Defence Forces Vision 2047 framework.

It aims to align capabilities and actions with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, ensuring the Army is prepared for emerging security challenges in a complex strategic environment.

Key Focus Areas of the Strategic Guidelines

It will serve as a key reference for future planning and decision-making across the Army, driving reforms in areas such as technology absorption, multi-domain operations, force restructuring, human resource development, and combat readiness.

Defence Forces Vision 2047

The Defence Forces Vision 2047, from which the guidelines have been framed, emphasises jointness and synergy among the services. It promotes greater coordination in planning, operations, and capability development. The vision also highlights the importance of innovation, advanced technologies, and a modern training framework to build a force adaptable to future warfare challenges.

Another critical focus area is Aatmanirbharta in defence, encouraging the development and adoption of indigenous technologies and solutions tailored to India's unique security requirements. Strengthening domestic defence manufacturing and technological capabilities is expected to enhance operational readiness while contributing to national growth.
