Kolkata: A day after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Priyanka Tibrewal allegedly led a protest outside the residence of expelled Trinamool Congress leader Sandipan Saha, rebel Trinamool legislators called Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and BJP's state president Samik Bhattacharya “good” and urged the administration to take action against those accused in vandalism.
Rebel MLAs Appeal to Administration
Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Ritabrata Bandyopadhyay, who visited Saha's home on Friday, said, “We feel that neither the Chief Minister nor the BJP state president will support such incidents. We request the administration to take proper action.” The expelled Trinamool leader termed the incident “shameful” and criticised Tibrewal for being part of it.
Details of the Protest
“Tibrewal protested in front of Sandipan Saha’s house. This is shameful. We have filed a case against this incident at New Market Police Station,” he said. On Thursday, Tibrewal had led the protest outside Saha’s house, alleging that the rebel MLA and his father Swarna Kamal Saha, a Trinamool functionary, were involved in land grabbing and extortion. Ritabrata also expressed confidence in his party’s growing support, stating, “I will say only one thing, our numbers will keep increasing.”
