Amid ongoing and forecast heavy rainfall, Gurugram police on Tuesday issued a work-from-home advisory for corporate employees to mitigate traffic congestion and ensure commuter safety. The advisory strongly urges private establishments to adopt remote work arrangements for the next few days.
Waterlogging and Traffic Risks
The police advisory highlights a significant risk of waterlogging and traffic congestion across major arterial roads and intersections in Gurugram. The move aims to reduce vehicular movement, assist traffic management teams, and keep emergency services unobstructed.
“We strongly urge the corporate sector and private establishments to encourage Work from Home (WFH) arrangements for their employees for the next few days. Minimising non-essential vehicular movement will greatly assist our traffic management teams in maintaining traffic flow and ensuring emergency services remain unobstructed. We appreciate your cooperation in prioritizing the safety and well-being of our citizens,” the advisory stated.
Impact on Commuters
Commuters have faced delays and disruptions on key routes such as the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway, MG Road, and Sohna Road. The police have deployed additional personnel at vulnerable points to manage traffic and assist stranded vehicles.
Local authorities are monitoring the situation and have set up control rooms to coordinate response. Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and stay updated through official channels.
