Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that India has witnessed many transformations in the last 12 years, citing progress in various sectors including infrastructure, digital economy, and social welfare. Addressing a public rally in poll-bound Gujarat, Modi listed several achievements of his government, such as the construction of highways, railways, and airports, as well as the expansion of digital payments and the provision of basic amenities to the poor.
Infrastructure Development
The Prime Minister highlighted that the pace of road construction has doubled compared to previous governments. He also mentioned the electrification of all villages, the provision of LPG connections to over 10 crore families, and the construction of more than 3 crore houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Modi said that the government has focused on improving connectivity through the UDAN scheme, which has made air travel affordable for common people.
Digital Economy and Financial Inclusion
Modi emphasized the growth of the digital economy, noting that India now has over 1.2 billion mobile phone users and 800 million internet users. He credited the Jan Dhan-Aadhaar-Mobile (JAM) trinity for enabling direct benefit transfers and reducing corruption. The Prime Minister also mentioned the success of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), which has revolutionized digital payments in the country.
Social Welfare Schemes
The Prime Minister listed several welfare schemes, including the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme, which has provided free treatment to over 5 crore beneficiaries. He also highlighted the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, which has transferred over Rs 2 lakh crore to farmers. Modi said that the government has worked for the upliftment of the poor, women, and marginalized communities.
Foreign Policy and Security
Modi also touched upon India's foreign policy, stating that the country has gained respect globally. He cited the successful hosting of the G20 summit and the strengthening of ties with major powers. On security, he mentioned the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya as significant achievements.
The Prime Minister concluded by urging the public to support the BJP in the upcoming elections, promising continued development and good governance.
