Kejriwal Launches Scathing Attack on BJP's Dynastic Politics During Chennai Campaign
Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal delivered a sharp critique of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday, asserting that the BJP itself is deeply entrenched in dynastic politics and therefore has no moral authority to criticize the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. Kejriwal was in Chennai to actively campaign for the DMK, participating in a roadshow alongside Chief Minister M K Stalin as part of his political outreach efforts.
Direct Challenge to BJP's Criticism
Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Kejriwal challenged the BJP to examine its own internal practices before pointing fingers at other political parties regarding dynastic politics. "I can provide numerous examples of dynastic politics within the BJP itself," Kejriwal declared emphatically. "What exactly is Union Home Minister Amit Shah's son, Jay Shah, doing in his current position? Whenever they need to appoint a chairman for the BCCI or ICC, they consistently look toward their own family members."
The Aam Aadmi Party leader continued his pointed questioning: "What role does Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's son play within the party structure? What about the numerous sons and daughters of various BJP leaders who have secured positions within the party hierarchy?" Kejriwal's remarks highlighted what he described as systemic nepotism within the ruling party at the national level.
Questioning the Double-Engine Government Model
Turning his attention to the BJP's much-touted "double-engine government" concept—where the same party rules at both state and central levels—Kejriwal argued that this model has consistently failed across India. "Please show me one state under BJP rule that is genuinely making progress," he challenged. "I regularly visit Gujarat for election campaigns. The BJP has governed that state for three decades, yet roads remain in poor condition, schools lack proper infrastructure, and corruption persists at alarming levels."
Kejriwal painted a bleak picture of BJP-led states, stating: "Wherever the BJP establishes power, the state ultimately suffers deterioration and neglect. Their governance model has proven ineffective in delivering tangible benefits to ordinary citizens."
Strong Endorsement for DMK's Governance
In contrast to his criticism of the BJP, Kejriwal offered robust praise for the DMK's administration in Tamil Nadu. "During my interactions with a substantial number of Chennai residents, I found widespread satisfaction with the DMK government's performance," he reported. "When people express such contentment with current leadership, what legitimate need exists for second, third, or fourth political alternatives?"
This endorsement came as Kejriwal campaigned alongside Chief Minister Stalin, emphasizing cross-party support ahead of crucial elections.
Response to Vijay's Political Entry
When questioned about Tamil film star and TVK president Vijay's formal entry into electoral politics, Kejriwal adopted a measured tone. "India remains a vibrant democracy where every citizen possesses the constitutional right to contest elections," he noted. "I extend my sincere wishes for success to Vijay in his political endeavors during this election season."
Kejriwal's Chennai visit marked a significant moment of opposition unity, with his criticism of BJP's dynastic practices and defense of DMK governance creating political ripples ahead of upcoming electoral battles.
