MP IPS Association Condemns BJP MLA's Alleged Abusive Remarks Against Officer
The IPS Association of Madhya Pradesh issued a strong condemnation on Tuesday against alleged objectionable remarks made by BJP legislator Pritam Singh Lodhi targeting an IPS officer posted in Shivpuri district. The association described the language used as "abusive, indecent, and threatening," stating it is unworthy of public life and undermines democratic values.
Viral Video Sparks Outrage
In a formal statement, the association highlighted that a video of the remarks directed at Karera Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP), Ayush Jakhad, has gone viral on social media platforms. The video purportedly captures Lodhi using derogatory language, issuing threats, and making inappropriate comments about the officer's family members. This incident has drawn widespread criticism for its disrespectful tone and potential impact on law enforcement morale.
Call for Restraint and Decorum
Emphasizing the expected conduct of public representatives, the association stressed that elected officials should "maintain restraint and decorum" in their public interactions. It argued that such statements not only tarnish the dignity of the offices they hold but also adversely affect the morale of administrative officials and disrupt the smooth functioning of the governance system. "This kind of language and threatening behaviour has no place in a democratic setup and harms the neutrality of governance," the association stated firmly.
Demand for Action and Timing Concerns
Beyond condemnation, the association has demanded appropriate disciplinary action against Lodhi in this matter. It noted that the timing of the incident is particularly unfortunate, as it came to light on Civil Services Day—a day dedicated to recognizing and honoring the contributions of civil servants across India. The association labeled the episode as "highly condemnable" and a setback to efforts aimed at fostering respect for public service.
The controversy has sparked discussions about the need for stricter codes of conduct for politicians and better protection for civil servants from verbal abuse and intimidation. As the video continues to circulate, authorities are under pressure to address the issue promptly to uphold the integrity of public administration in Madhya Pradesh.
