Kirti Chakra Awardees

The Kirti Chakra, India's second-highest peacetime gallantry award, was conferred posthumously to several personnel. Among them, Major Vikram Singh of the Indian Army was recognized for leading a counter-insurgency operation in Jammu and Kashmir, where he neutralized multiple terrorists before making the supreme sacrifice. Another recipient, Wing Commander Arjun Raj, was honored for his role in a daring rescue mission in a hostile environment.

Vir Chakra Recipients

The Vir Chakra, awarded for acts of gallantry in the presence of the enemy, was presented to Lieutenant Colonel Meera Devi for her leadership during a cross-border firefight. She inspired her troops to hold their ground despite heavy odds. Additionally, Naik Ramesh Kumar was recognized for single-handedly taking down an enemy position during a covert operation.

Shaurya Chakra Winners

The Shaurya Chakra, India's third-highest peacetime gallantry decoration, was awarded to 15 individuals. Notable among them is Sub-Inspector Anjali Sharma of the Central Reserve Police Force, who displayed exceptional bravery during a militant attack in Chhattisgarh. She evacuated injured colleagues while engaging the attackers. Another awardee, Havaldar Prakash Singh, neutralized a suicide bomber at a military installation, preventing a major tragedy.

Civilians Honored

Two civilians received the Shaurya Chakra for their courage. Ravi Kumar, a farmer, saved 12 villagers from drowning in a flooded river, while school teacher Sunita Devi foiled a robbery attempt at a bank, sustaining injuries in the process.

The awards underscore the nation's gratitude toward its bravehearts. President Murmu, in her address, praised the recipients for their selflessness and urged the youth to draw inspiration from their deeds. The ceremony was attended by top military officials, dignitaries, and families of the awardees.
