Protests Erupt Over Youth's Death During Police Recruitment Test
The death of 27-year-old Kapil Yadav of Saidpur village during a police recruitment physical test in Panchkula has triggered widespread protests in Mahendragarh. Residents are demanding a government job for his widow and adequate support for the bereaved family.
Kapil Yadav died while participating in the physical endurance test for the Haryana Police recruitment drive. The incident has led to a series of demonstrations, including a candlelight march, a human chain, and a two-minute silence observed in his memory. Protesters raised slogans against the authorities, holding them responsible for the tragedy.
Congress Demands High-Level Inquiry and Compensation
The Haryana Congress has thrown its weight behind the family's demands, calling for a time-bound, high-level investigation into the circumstances of the death. Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Rao Narender Singh launched a scathing attack on the BJP government, alleging that the state has lost its identity as a hub of development and employment and has instead become synonymous with unemployment, paper leaks, and recruitment scams.
Expressing grief over Kapil Yadav's death, Rao Narender stated, "This was not merely an accident, but a reflection of the government’s insensitivity and an administrative failure." He questioned the arrangements at the recruitment venue, asking whether adequate ambulances, trained medical personnel, life-saving equipment, drinking water, and emergency healthcare facilities were provided.
Demands for Action and Support
The Congress leader demanded action against officials found responsible for the lapses, adequate financial compensation for the family, and a government job for Kapil's wife. The protests in Mahendragarh have drawn attention to the safety measures during recruitment drives, with locals urging the government to ensure such tragedies do not recur.
Kapil Yadav's untimely death has left his family devastated. His widow, along with other family members, has appealed to the state government for justice and support. The incident has also sparked a broader debate on the transparency and safety of recruitment processes in Haryana.
