RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Hails India's Spiritual Strength as Global Anchor in Crisis

Nagpur: In a powerful address that resonated with historical depth, RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat declared on Monday that India consistently emerges as a guiding force for the world during times of crisis and faltering. He attributed this unique resilience to the country's profound and enduring spiritual foundation, which he described as a timeless source of strength.

Spiritual Knowledge as India's Distinctive Legacy

Speaking at a seven-day ritual ceremony organized by Shri Majjinendra Panchkalyanak Pratishtha Mahotsav in Tulsi Nagar, Nagpur, Bhagwat highlighted that the spiritual knowledge discovered by India's ancestors has largely remained unknown to the rest of the world. This ancient wisdom continues to shape the nation's response in turbulent times, offering a stark contrast to other civilizations.

"When storms of materialism and consumerism rise elsewhere, societies collapse. Here, that wave comes and passes, yet we remain," Bhagwat stated, emphasizing India's civilisational continuity. His remarks come amid the ongoing West Asia conflict, underscoring a broader message about global stability.

Historical Context and Civilisational Endurance

Drawing from poetic heritage, Bhagwat referenced the famous lines: "Yunan-o-Mistra-o-Roma sab mit gaye jahan se, kuch baat hai ki hasti mitati nahi hamari" (Greece, Egypt, and Rome empires vanished from the face of the earth, yet there is something about us that our identity never diminishes). He explained that this enduring "hasti" or existence stems from the spiritual knowledge passed down through generations from saints and sages.

"The immortality of our nation, which ensures well-being and harmony, rests on the saints and sages," Bhagwat asserted. He placed this in a wider context, noting that sustaining this legacy is a collective responsibility. He urged individuals to see themselves as instruments of that larger spiritual force, which transcends personal ego.

Role of Saints and Spiritual Leaders in Society

Highlighting the pivotal role of saints and spiritual leaders, Bhagwat said their contributions have been central in shaping a society that adapts, evolves, and sustains itself. "For ages, saints and great personalities have prepared society in such a way that it adapts, evolves and sustains itself," he remarked.

He encouraged people to imbibe their teachings, noting that even being in the company (satsang) of such individuals can transform lives and society at large. This spiritual engagement, he suggested, offers a pathway to personal and communal growth.

Expanding Perspective Beyond the Self

Bhagwat addressed the human tendency to center life around the self, where ego becomes the focal point of existence, family, and society. He proposed an alternative: expanding one's perspective beyond the self and placing the world at the center, which makes life more "vyapak" (expansive).

This spiritual outlook, he explained, provides a "complete vision of life," guiding both philosophical understanding and practical living. It fosters a holistic approach that balances inner wisdom with outward action.

Spirituality as a Guide in Difficult Times

Concluding his address, the RSS chief emphasized that those who have truly lived spirituality can, through their authoritative speech, show the right path in times of difficulty. "Those paths, being rooted in spirituality, are inherently correct," he stated, reinforcing the idea that spiritual foundations offer reliable guidance amidst chaos.

Bhagwat's message serves as a reminder of India's unique position in the global landscape, rooted in ancient traditions that continue to inspire resilience and harmony. His call to embrace this spiritual heritage resonates as a collective endeavor for national and global well-being.
