Assam Police Buildings Illuminate Blue for Children's Day

In a striking visual display of solidarity with children worldwide, the Assam Police transformed its buildings with blue illumination on Thursday, November 20, to mark World Children's Day. The symbolic gesture formed the grand finale of a week-long celebration dedicated to children's rights and protection.

Statewide Blue Illumination for Child Rights

The Assam Police headquarters in Guwahati, along with the Guwahati Police Commissionerate, all SSP offices, and police stations across the state were bathed in blue light as part of the global "Go Blue" campaign. This powerful visual statement served as a public declaration of the police force's commitment to safeguarding children's rights and welfare.

Director General of Police Harmeet Singh explained the significance behind the illumination, stating that the period from November 14 to November 20 is observed annually as 'Child Rights Week' through various activities aimed at reinforcing their dedication to protect and promote children's rights.

Culmination of Week-Long Child Rights Program

The blue illumination on November 20 marked the culmination of this important week-long program. "Every year, from Nov 14 to Nov 20, we observe 'Child Rights Week' through a series of activities aimed at reinforcing our dedication to protect and promote children's rights," DGP Harmeet Singh stated.

The illumination of all Assam Police buildings in blue on Nov 20 serves as a public declaration of our commitment, Singh emphasized. The visual transformation created a powerful reminder of the collective responsibility toward ensuring children's safety, education, and overall well-being.

Joining the Global "Go Blue" Movement

Assam Police's participation in the worldwide "Go Blue" campaign placed the state alongside international landmarks and institutions that similarly use blue illumination to symbolize solidarity with children. The campaign aims to raise awareness about children's rights and the importance of creating safe environments for their growth and development.

This initiative demonstrates how law enforcement agencies are expanding their role beyond traditional policing to include community engagement and child protection advocacy. The blue illumination across police establishments sent a strong message that protecting children's rights remains a priority for the Assam Police force.

The successful execution of this symbolic event across multiple police establishments statewide highlights the organizational commitment to children's welfare and sets a positive example for other states to follow in recognizing and celebrating World Children's Day.
