A tragic incident occurred in Pratapgarh district of Rajasthan, where a borewell drilling machine operator lost his life and three workers sustained severe burns after the machine came into contact with an 11 kV high-tension power line. The incident took place on Saturday morning in Tamtiya village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Peeplkhunt police station.
Details of the Incident
According to Peeplkhunt Station House Officer (SHO) Chhabilal, borewell digging work was underway in a field in Tamtiya village. While setting up the machine, it inadvertently touched the high-tension line, causing an electric current to pass through the machinery. The current proved fatal for the machine operator, identified as Rakma Meena, a 30-year-old resident of Amarkund, Danpur. Three other workers — Shivlal (24), Dinesh (25), and Suraj (34) — were also electrocuted and suffered severe burns.
Immediate Response and Medical Aid
Upon receiving information about the accident, a 108 ambulance was dispatched to the scene. The injured workers were rushed to the Kelamela Community Health Center for first aid. Due to the critical nature of their injuries, they were subsequently referred to the Pratapgarh District Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment. The medical staff at both facilities have been providing necessary care to the victims.
Police Investigation
Police personnel from the Peeplkhunt police station arrived at the site shortly after the incident. They have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Authorities are examining whether safety protocols were followed during the drilling operation and if any negligence contributed to the tragedy.
