The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Jharkhand has constituted an eight-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the illegal withdrawals from the treasuries of Bokaro and Hazaribag, following a directive from the state government. This was announced on Friday.
Composition of the SIT
The SIT will be headed by Inspector General Pankaj Kamboj, as confirmed by the CID. The team includes two Superintendents of Police (SP), three Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP), and two Inspectors. The CID has stated that the SIT has already commenced a detailed investigation into the cases registered in Bokaro and Hazaribag, with instructions to ensure a high-quality probe.
Background of the Case
Earlier, the police had registered cases under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Hazaribag's Lohsinghna police station and Bokaro Steel City police station in connection with the illegal withdrawals. The formation of the SIT marks a significant step towards uncovering the full extent of the financial irregularities.
