CJI Calls for Evolution of Justice System
Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant emphasized on Sunday that the justice delivery system must evolve to keep pace with the changing nature of litigation. Speaking at a conference in Chandigarh, he stressed the need for structural reforms to ensure timely and efficient justice.
Integrated Court Complexes Proposed
The CJI advocated for the establishment of integrated district court complexes across Haryana, modeled on the lines of those in Uttar Pradesh. He noted that such complexes consolidate all judicial services under one roof, reducing delays and improving access for litigants.
Addressing Litigation Trends
CJI Surya Kant pointed out that the nature of disputes is shifting, with more cases involving technology, cybercrime, and commercial matters. He called for continuous training of judges and modernization of court infrastructure to handle these emerging challenges. According to him, the judiciary must adopt innovative practices to maintain its relevance and effectiveness.
Impact on Haryana's Judiciary
The proposal for integrated complexes in Haryana is expected to streamline processes in the state's overburdened courts. The CJI urged the state government to allocate resources and collaborate with the judiciary to implement this model, which has shown positive results in Uttar Pradesh by reducing case pendency and improving litigant satisfaction.
