A clash erupted between two groups of inmates at the Puzhal central prison in Chennai over the distribution of ganja. The prison authorities have registered a case against 12 prisoners involved in the incident.
Incident Details
The altercation took place inside the remand block of the prison, which houses more than 4,000 inmates. According to officials, one group of inmates was found in possession of ganja. Another group approached them and demanded a share of the contraband, leading to a heated argument that soon escalated into a physical fight.
Prisoners Booked
The 12 individuals identified as involved in the clash are Anand, Chinna Thambi, Rajesh, Narasimhan, Sakthivel, Vijay, Ganeshkumar, Surya, Nithiyavel, Vignesh, Kesavan, and another Vignesh. They have been detained in their respective cells following the incident.
The prison administration is conducting a thorough investigation to determine how the ganja was smuggled into the facility and to prevent such incidents in the future. Security measures are being reviewed to curb the entry of illegal substances.
