Following a recent report in the Times of India highlighting acute water scarcity in Vinayaka Camp near Kurki in Davanagere taluk, the Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Panchayat, Gitte Madhav Vittal Rao, visited the settlement and assured residents of both immediate relief and a permanent solution to the crisis.
Immediate Measures Implemented
During his visit, Rao arranged for a daily supply of water through tankers to alleviate the severe shortage faced by the residents. He stated that officials would prepare a comprehensive action plan to provide a lasting drinking water source for the camp. This plan includes identifying a suitable location for a borewell and subsequently supplying water to the settlement through a pipeline network.
Engagement with Residents
Rao held a meeting with the residents and listened attentively to their concerns regarding the prolonged water crisis. He assured them that the issue would be resolved effectively. Drawing from his experience, he mentioned that he had successfully addressed similar drinking water problems in several other villages earlier. He emphasized, "I will find a permanent solution for the drinking water problem in Vinayaka Camp. I have resolved such crises in many villages, especially those facing severe shortages. For now, tanker water is being supplied every day."
The residents expressed relief at the immediate supply of tanker water and appreciated the CEO's commitment to finding a long-term solution. The action plan is expected to be finalized soon, ensuring that the camp receives a consistent and reliable water supply.
