Hazaribag: The police on Saturday announced the destruction of 8,435 litres of mahua and the seizure of 80 litres of country liquor during raids conducted across 53 locations in the district. The operation, which took place late Friday, was aimed at curbing the production and sale of spurious liquor.

Raids Conducted by Multiple Teams

As many as 36 teams, comprising 166 personnel, raided various locations. However, no arrests were made in connection with the production of illicit liquor.

A total of 14 general diary entries were registered at different police stations, along with one formal First Information Report (FIR).

Police Appeal to Public

“Such raids will be carried out in the future. We have also appealed to the public to inform the police about units where spurious liquor is being produced,” said Superintendent of Police Aman Kumar.

“Efforts are underway to identify those who had been operating these units,” a police official added.
