In a significant development for Kanpur's residents, a new state-of-the-art event venue called Mangal Bhawan was officially inaugurated on Sunday, promising to make dream weddings and ceremonies accessible to all sections of society.
A Venue for Every Family's Dreams
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Satish Mahana, Speaker of the legislative assembly, who presided over the function. Mayor Pramila Pandey attended as the special guest, highlighting the project's importance to the city's civic infrastructure.
Developed on an impressive 3,184 square metres, Mangal Bhawan represents a modern solution to the city's need for affordable event spaces. The facility boasts a substantial capacity of 1,110 people and features multiple components including a banquet hall, spacious lawns, and ample parking space to accommodate large gatherings comfortably.
Rapid Development Through Corporate Partnership
What makes this project particularly remarkable is its execution timeline and funding model. The entire complex was constructed in a record nine months, demonstrating efficient project management and execution.
The development received significant support through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding of Rs 2.5 crore from JCI, showcasing how public-private partnerships can effectively address community needs.
Dignified Events for Economically Weaker Families
During the inauguration, Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana emphasized that Mangal Bhawan would fulfil the dream of every parent seeking to organize memorable marriage ceremonies for their children without financial strain.
Mayor Pramila Pandey highlighted the social impact of the project, noting that Mangal Bhawan would help economically weaker families organize events with dignity. She described the project as an excellent example of the Prime Minister's CSR vision and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's sensitive leadership style.
The ownership and operational responsibilities of Mangal Bhawan will remain with the Kanpur Municipal Corporation, ensuring that the facility continues to serve its intended social purpose.
To ensure proper management and prevent misuse, a dedicated committee will be formed consisting of the mayor, city commissioner, and current and former presidents of JCI. Additionally, two JCI members will serve on the monitoring committee to maintain oversight.
Akash Goenka, former president of JCI, articulated the core mission behind the project, stating that 'Mangal Bhawan' has been developed as an initiative related to the dignity of poor families.
The inauguration ceremony saw participation from several distinguished guests including MLA Surendra Maithani, Neelima Katiyar, Arpit Upadhyaya, Municipal Commissioner Anand Tripathi, General Manager Jalkal Praneet Agarwal, President JCI Industrial, and other JCI members.
This new facility is set to revolutionize how Kanpur residents approach event planning, offering a dignified and affordable option for ceremonies that mark important milestones in their lives.
