Railway Attendant's Shocking Act Caught on Camera

A video exposing a blatant act of littering by a railway staff member has ignited widespread anger and a serious debate about cleanliness standards on Indian trains. The clip, which rapidly went viral on social media, shows a coach attendant casually throwing a bag of garbage from a moving train onto the tracks.

Confrontation and a Dismissive Response

The incident was recorded on November 4, 2025, by passenger Abhishek Singh during his journey from Kanpur to Jaipur aboard the Sealdah-Ajmer Express. Singh witnessed the attendant, later identified as Sanjay Singh, pull a trash bag from a bin and discard it out of the train. When confronted, the attendant responded dismissively, asking, “Should I take it home?” Despite attempts to reason with him, the attendant refused to acknowledge his mistake and reportedly repeated the act.

This defiant attitude added fuel to the fire, with social media users expressing rage over the lack of accountability and environmental concern.

Swift Action from Indian Railways

Facing immense public scrutiny, Indian Railways responded quickly. The North Western Railway announced that the staff member, Sanjay Singh, was removed from service immediately. A strict penalty was also imposed on the contractor responsible for the onboard housekeeping services.

In addition to the disciplinary measures, the Railways initiated a counseling drive aimed at educating its housekeeping staff. The drive emphasizes that garbage should only be disposed of at designated stations to prevent such incidents in the future. The authorities also expressed regret over the incident and reaffirmed their commitment to continuously improving passenger services.

Social Media Erupts in Anger

The online community reacted with strong criticism. Many users questioned why no one intervened physically to stop the attendant, with one person commenting on the passive observation of such “crimes against India.” Others pointed out the apparent pride on the attendant's face while committing the act. However, many netizens applauded Abhishek Singh for his courage in filming the incident and raising awareness, highlighting the crucial role of vigilant passengers in holding authorities accountable.

This event serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges in waste management enforcement and the need for ethical conduct among all railway personnel.
