As Diwali festivities approach, Ranchi District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has rolled out stringent safety measures for firecracker sales and usage, ensuring celebrations remain joyful yet secure for all residents.
Mandatory QR Code Verification System
In a significant move towards accountability, all firecracker sellers must now display QR codes at their stalls. These codes will provide customers with instant access to comprehensive product information, including manufacturer details, safety certifications, and proper usage instructions.
Designated Selling Zones & Timing Restrictions
The DDMA has established specific zones across Ranchi where firecracker sales are permitted. Additionally, strict timing regulations have been imposed:
- Sales permitted only between 8 AM and 10 PM
- Designated areas away from residential clusters
- Prohibition near educational institutions and hospitals
Enhanced Safety Protocols for Sellers
Firecracker vendors must adhere to rigorous safety standards, including maintaining adequate firefighting equipment, ensuring proper ventilation, and implementing no-smoking zones around their stalls. Regular inspections will be conducted to enforce compliance.
Public Awareness Campaign
The district administration is launching an extensive awareness drive to educate citizens about safe Diwali practices. This includes demonstrations on proper firecracker handling, emergency response procedures, and environmental considerations.
District officials emphasize that these measures aim to balance traditional celebrations with modern safety requirements, ensuring a disaster-free festival season for Ranchi's residents.
