In a significant move to improve urban infrastructure, Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) administrator Sushant Gaurav conducted a comprehensive inspection of Birsa Munda Bus Terminal in Khadgarha and its surrounding areas on Monday. The inspection aimed to assess passenger facilities and identify areas requiring immediate improvement at one of Ranchi's busiest transportation hubs.
Terminal Layout and Infrastructure Upgrades
During his visit, Gaurav thoroughly examined the terminal's current layout, sanitation conditions, and crowd management systems. Officials received direct instructions to redesign the terminal layout and clearly mark bus bays with proper signboards to streamline passenger movement. The engineering department has been tasked with completing pending road repairs and covering open drains to enhance safety and hygiene.
Recognizing the increasing number of commuters using the facility, the administration has sought a proposal for constructing a new modern toilet block. This initiative addresses the growing need for better sanitation facilities given the terminal's rising daily footfall.
Addressing Illegal Encroachments and Security Measures
The RMC has taken a strict stance against disorder and unauthorized use of terminal space. Abandoned vehicles will be removed immediately, and fines will be imposed for illegal parking violations. The corporation will also take action against shopkeepers who have extended their shops beyond authorized limits.
In a systematic approach to space utilization, empty shops within the terminal premises will be allocated according to established rules and regulations. Security at the bus terminal is set for significant enhancement with the installation of comprehensive CCTV surveillance across the premises, to be implemented in coordination with local police authorities.
