DDA Extends Roshanara Club Membership Deadline to Dec 15
Roshanara Club Membership Deadline Extended to Dec 15

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has announced a significant extension for lifetime membership applications to the historic Roshanara Club, providing a fresh opportunity for aspiring members. The new deadline for submissions is now December 15, offering extra time for those who faced earlier hurdles.

Application Process and Key Details

Prospective members must apply exclusively through the online portal at online.dda.org.in/golfcourse. A non-refundable application fee of Rs 2,500, which includes GST, is mandatory with every submission. The DDA is offering a total of 750 memberships, divided into 400 seats for the non-government category and 350 for the government category.

Eligibility is strict: applicants must be Indian citizens who were 21 years or older as of October 15. The financial commitment is substantial, with lifetime membership fees set at Rs 12.5 lakh plus GST for the non-govt category and Rs 4 lakh plus GST for the govt category.

Selection and Club Revitalization

If the number of applications surpasses the available seats, a transparent computerised draw of lots will be conducted to select the successful candidates. A DDA official explained that the extension is intended to give a wider section of the public a fair chance to join this iconic institution, acknowledging that some interested individuals needed more time due to personal or logistical reasons.

Simultaneously, the club has undergone major upgrades to enhance its appeal. Visitors can now enjoy modernized outdoor facilities, including synthetic lawn tennis courts, cricket grounds with practice pitches, mini football and basketball zones, and a dedicated jogger's park. While adding these contemporary amenities, the DDA has meticulously preserved the club's rich architectural heritage, maintaining its European-style doors and windows, Mangalore tiled roof, and intricate wooden trusses.

A Legacy Reborn

The Roshanara Club is not just any recreational space; it is a landmark steeped in Indian sporting history. Sprawling over 22 acres in the heart of Delhi, it is famously regarded as the birthplace of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). This century-old institution entered a new chapter when it was officially taken over by the DDA on September 29, 2023. The renovated club was subsequently inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena in July, marking its grand reopening to the public.

This membership drive represents a unique chance to become part of a restored legacy that beautifully blends historical significance with modern recreational facilities.
