Hosapete: Seven people were injured in a head-on collision between a goods vehicle and a car near Dharmasagar village in Hosapete taluk of Vijayanagar district on Sunday. The accident occurred on National Highway 63 when the car was travelling from Ballari towards Vijayapura.
Details of the Accident
According to police, preliminary investigations indicate that rash and negligent driving by the goods vehicle driver led to the mishap. The impact of the collision left two individuals seriously injured: Suresh, 42, and Dr. Shobha Nayak, 58, both residents of Vijayapura. Five others travelling in the two vehicles sustained minor injuries. All the injured were shifted to the government hospital in Hosapete, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Local Reactions and Concerns
Meanwhile, local residents have blamed the slow-paced highway construction work on NH-63 for the accident. They expressed anger over the lack of safety measures at the work site, alleging that the road construction company failed to install even basic cautionary signboards. Residents claim that this negligence has resulted in frequent accidents along that stretch of the highway.
Police Action
Personnel from the Gadiganur rural police station visited the spot, conducted an inspection, and registered a case. Further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the collision and to hold the responsible parties accountable.
