Vadodara: Three members of a family lost their lives and one sustained injuries after their SUV was struck by an unidentified vehicle on the Mumbai-Delhi Expressway near Bhatpura village in Godhra taluka of Panchmahal district on Monday night. The offending vehicle fled the scene following the collision, police reported.
Details of the Incident
The accident occurred while the family was traveling from Surat to Lunawada. The deceased have been identified as Hemant Pandya (44), his wife Kinjal (42), and their son Ayush (18). Their eight-year-old daughter, Jenisa, suffered serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment. Hemant, a catering businessman based in Surat, originally hailed from Lunawada.
Emergency Response and Investigation
Police stated that the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital via emergency ambulances, where three of them were declared dead upon arrival. Relatives reached the hospital after being informed of the tragedy. Kinjal's cousin, Vipul Joshi, has filed a complaint in connection with the case.
Second Fatal Accident in a Week
Notably, this marks the second fatal accident on the same stretch within a week. Earlier, four members of a Vadodara family were killed in a similar crash. Authorities are investigating both incidents to prevent further tragedies on the expressway.
