A tragic road accident occurred on NH-65 in Zaheerabad early Tuesday morning, claiming two lives and leaving three others injured. The incident took place around 5:40 am when a speeding car collided with a stationary auto trolley, according to local police.
Victims and Injuries
The deceased have been identified as K Mahesh Goud, 26, a driver by profession, and a 16-year-old boy. The injured include a woman and her two daughters, who were all passengers in the car. Zaheerabad town sub-inspector (SI) Vinay Kumar stated that the victims belonged to different communities and families but hailed from the same village.
Details of the Incident
The group, residents of Kesaram village in Chevella, was returning from a visit to the Tuljapur temple in Maharashtra when the accident occurred. The auto trolley had suffered a mechanical failure, prompting the driver to stop and park it on the highway. The speeding car then rammed into the stationary trolley from behind, causing severe damage to the front of the vehicle.
Mahesh Goud and the minor boy died on the spot due to the impact. The woman, who was seated in the front passenger seat, and her two daughters in the back were rushed to a private hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Possible Cause and Legal Action
Police suspect that driver fatigue may have played a role, as the accident occurred early in the morning. The trolley driver, identified as Taufik, 35, has been booked for negligence. A case was registered under Section 106(1) of the BNS (rash and negligent act) based on a complaint filed by the deceased driver's father, Suresh Goud.
Autopsies of both Mahesh and the minor have been completed, and their bodies have been handed over to their families. A thorough investigation into the incident is currently underway.
