Sixteen Injured as Car Rams Wedding Procession in Jaipur's Bassi Area
A joyous wedding celebration in Jaipur turned into a scene of chaos and injury on Saturday night when an out-of-control vehicle crashed into a traditional wedding procession, leaving sixteen people injured. The incident occurred in the Bassi area of Jaipur district, casting a shadow over what was meant to be a festive occasion.

According to police reports, the accident took place around 9 pm near the NDPC turn in Bassi. Approximately fifty people had gathered for a customary pre-wedding ceremony, where relatives carry gifts and offerings to the bride's family. The group, traveling from Jamwaramgarh and heading towards Maliyon Ki Dhani, was dancing and singing enthusiastically behind a DJ system that provided music for the procession.
Investigators revealed that a car belonging to the same wedding party was moving slowly behind the DJ trolley as the procession progressed along the road. In a tragic moment of confusion, the driver allegedly pressed the accelerator pedal instead of the brake. This error caused the vehicle to suddenly surge forward at high speed, directly plowing into the crowd of dancers ahead of it.
Immediate Aftermath and Rescue Efforts
The car tore through the gathering, knocking several participants to the ground and triggering widespread panic at the scene. Eyewitnesses described immediate screams and cries erupting as the vehicle rammed into the unsuspecting crowd. Family members and relatives rushed to pull the injured away from the road to safety.
