Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Three Police Personnel

In a devastating incident that has shocked the law enforcement community in Jharkhand, three police officers lost their lives while one remains missing after their official vehicle plunged into Dhurwa Dam in Ranchi. The tragic accident occurred late Friday night between 10:30 PM and 11:00 PM, casting a pall of grief over the state's police force.

Details of the Fatal Incident

The police vehicle carrying four personnel was returning from the Judicial Academy when it reportedly lost control and fell into the reservoir. According to Dhurwa police authorities, all four officers were part of the security team assigned to the Principal District Judge of Jamshedpur. The vehicle contained two bodyguards and two official drivers who were performing their duties when the tragedy struck.

The deceased officers have been identified as Upendra Kumar Singh, Robin Kujur, and Anil. The missing policeman is Satyendra Kumar, for whom intensive search operations continue. Rescue teams have been working tirelessly since the night of the accident, with recovery efforts still ongoing as authorities race against time to locate the missing officer.

Investigation and Recovery Efforts

The police vehicle has been successfully retrieved from the water and is currently undergoing thorough examination as part of the official investigation. Authorities are exploring multiple angles to determine the exact cause of the accident, including whether the vehicle overturned due to excessive speeding, technical malfunction, or poor visibility on the dam road during nighttime conditions.

The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Nagri police station, whose officers responded to an emergency call and reached the spot early Saturday morning to initiate rescue operations. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been deployed to assist in the search for the missing police personnel, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.

In a significant development, Nagri police officials confirmed that along with the bodies of the three police staff members, two weapons were also recovered from inside the dam. This discovery has prompted investigators to consider various possibilities, including why the police team was near the dam so late at night, whether there was any internal conflict, or if external elements were involved in the incident.

The three recovered bodies have been sent to RIMS hospital for post-mortem examination, while the investigation continues to unfold with multiple theories being examined. Police authorities have emphasized that nothing can be conclusively determined at this preliminary stage, and all aspects of the case are being thoroughly investigated.
