AIADMK MLAs Huddle at Puducherry Resort Amid Tamil Nadu Govt Formation Uncertainty
AIADMK MLAs Meet at Puducherry Resort Amid Tamil Nadu Govt Uncertainty

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami visited a resort in Puducherry on Wednesday night to hold discussions with the party's MLAs amidst uncertainty over government formation in Tamil Nadu. More than 30 AIADMK MLAs, who began arriving at the resort from Wednesday night, attended the meeting. They formally elected Palaniswami as the AIADMK legislature party leader, granting him authority to make decisions on the party's next political moves.

Meeting Amidst Political Turmoil

Initially, there was speculation that Palaniswami would head to Lok Bhavan to meet the governor in the evening. However, he drove to Puducherry and met the MLAs instead. The consultative meeting, which commenced at 7:30 PM, concluded by 8:10 PM. Party sources revealed that the discussions centered on the evolving political situation in Tamil Nadu following the fractured poll verdict.

Preventing Poaching and Ensuring Unity

Palaniswami briefed the MLAs on the party's next steps to prevent poaching and maintain a united front. AIADMK sources indicate that a strict order has been issued to the MLAs not to leave the resort. Party sources confirmed that rooms have been booked for the next seven days, signaling that the AIADMK is prepared for prolonged negotiations.

"Our leader went to Puducherry to hold discussions with the MLAs about the prevailing situation and what options are ahead of us. We are hoping that his efforts will pay off," said an AIADMK leader who preferred to remain anonymous.

Speculations of Alliance Talks

AIADMK leaders stated that the move is aimed at keeping the party together amid speculations that party MLAs could be poached, as the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) does not have a majority to form the government. The meeting also comes in the wake of reports that the DMK and AIADMK are in talks for a potential tie-up.

The political landscape in Tamil Nadu remains fluid, with no clear majority for any party. The AIADMK's strategy to consolidate its MLAs in a secure location underscores the high stakes involved in the government formation process.
